Southwold’s most popular beach is North Beach which stretches out in front of the town, a sandy golden barrier between the dark blue North Sea and the picturesque coastal settlement. Furthermore, this artistic mosaic has yet another sweep of colour with Southwold’s world famous beach huts.

The 300 or so huts can be found aligning the beach in numerous different shapes, sizes, designs and colours. They’ve evolved from their first use by local fisherman, to now being sought after holiday real estate! Traditionally huts were linked to property, and would be included in any sale. Now however, they are such prize possessions that they are sold separately and handed down from generation to generation.

How much would you say the beach huts are worth?? One was recently put on the market for £70,000!!

These beautiful beach huts adorn the coastline of Southwold and a relaxed amble down the beachfront, taking in their varied patterns and colours, makes for a wonderful afternoon stroll. So why not take a walk and see for yourself!
